This year’s #Homecoming is somewhat different because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Currently, we may not be able to travel to places physically, but Maties, get ready to travel to another world with Deon Meyer’s new book, The Dark Flood (Donkerdrif).

Join us on Thursday 23 September at 19:00 for our online conversation with the highly acclaimed South African author and scriptwriter, Deon Meyer.
Matie alumnus, Jonathan Amid, well-known book journalist and critic is ready to lead this conversation. Deon will share his journey as celebrated author with us and discuss his recent top seller, The Dark Flood (Donkerdrif) that is set in the beautiful town of Stellenbosch.
His books have been published in more than 40 countries and worldwide have been translated in 27 languages.
RSVP: Send an email to alumni@sun.ac.za.

About this book:

Someone shot warrant-officer Milo April at the Cape Town Waterfront. In cold blood. In broad daylight. An execution. Is a senior SAPS officer responsible? And is it related to the mysterious letters received by suspended Hawks detectives, Bennie Griessel and Vaughn Cupido? With hints of State Capture shenanigans?

If they can solve this, their careers are saved, their status restored. But how do you investigate a case in secret with your whole future on the line if you are caught out?

While at the same time you have to waste your time with a little student in Stellenbosch who apparently vanished after a weekend of partying? And the monkey business between Jasper Boonstra, the mega-rich, notorious corporative swindler and the sensual, desperate real estate agent, Sandra Steenberg . . .

You do what you always do if you are Griessel and Cupido. Shut up, keep your wits about you, carry on. Whilst your bosses rant and rave and the media applies inhuman pressure. And you slowly realise it is the darkest passion behind it all.
