We take pleasure in inviting you to Huis Marais’ 75th anniversary.Please come and join us from Friday 15 September to Saturday 16 September 2023, for this exciting event.The celebrations coincide with Stellenbosch University’s (SU) Homecoming weekend for alumni, taking place on the Stellenbosch and Tygerberg campuses. Click here for the programme.Get ready for a good time!We kick off the Friday with an alumni rugby match at the Coetzenburg Stadium. There will be a braai at the field and we will all be hanging out together for an amazing evening.A business discussion follows on Saturday morning in the reading room at Huis Marais. We will be inviting a few big guns who are alumni of the House to give their opinions on the economic future of the country.They will also share some tips on what they have learnt on their way to success. Directly after the business discussion, we will be establishing an official alumni committee for the residence, as we have recently come to realise that we need a group of alumni who can assist in connecting the broad Huis Marais Alumni community with each other and with the residence.On Saturday afternoon, you will have the opportunity to get together as year groups and groups of friends for lunch, or to visit a wine farm and relive highlights from your time at Stellenbosch. We leave these arrangements – time, place, costs, etc. up to you.The celebrations will be culminating in a semi-formal spit braai at Huis Marais on Saturday evening. The menu will include a tasty spit-braai meal, one or two stories about the current position of the residence, wine tasting, and House Mouse auction, followed by an opportunity to socialise. The Lekkerlê club will also be open.You will also have the opportunity to relive the entire residence experience, as we will be opening 30 double rooms for booking on Friday and Saturday evening.In celebration of the past 75 years that Huis Marais found its way into people’s hearts, we would like to make this weekend an unforgettable experience.
