The London SWANs invite you to gather with fellow Maties Roxanne Botman and Lisa Varga on Tuesday 21 March 2023 at the Heist Bank. This event forms part of the global celebration of International Women’s Day on 8 March.
This year’s theme for International Women’s Day is #EmbraceEquity, calling on us to imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated.
Please join Roxanne and Lisa as they lead a discussion on how we as women can celebrate and value our differences. How we can unpack the various buzz words so that we can better understand and be more empowered to play our role in achieving equity. This exciting conversation will be moderated by Lani Swart, our SWAN London Lead.

#EndPeriodPoverty
The lack of access to sanitary products is a major problem globally and has a massive impact on the dignity, education and work productivity of many South African women.
Twenty‑two million South African women have their period every month, 35% of them having to choose between buying food or a sanitary product.
Four million women miss education and training opportunities for an average of five days a month because of the lack of access to sanitary products.
Period Poverty disempowers too many women in our society and at our University. This can be addressed. By supporting the #EndPeriodPoverty campaign you will allow Stellenbosch University the opportunity to provide access to affordable and/or free locally‑made eco-friendly sanitary products.
(Please DO NOT donate anonymously, as we will not be able to match your giving against your attendance. Remember to maximise your donation by allowing our UK Charity to claim Gift Aid on your donation from the HMRC. Feel free to donate more than £30 as every penny donated will make a significant difference to our future fellow alumnae back at Stellenbosch University. You are welcome to donate even if you are unable to join us on 21 March.)
Our SWANs are spread all over the globe and we would love to contact as many of you as possible. Please feel free to forward this invitation to fellow alumnae and encourage them to send their latest contact information to darrynh@sun.ac.za.
We are so looking forward to meeting you, so please RSVP early to secure your place.
