Maties Elgin presents: Alumni Talks
The chapter committee for Maties Elgin presents a quarterly Alumni Talks series that has been designed as opportunities for you to engage with various interesting topics.
Join fellow alumni and the author of Our Long Walk to Economic Freedom, Prof Johan Fourie (also an SU alumnus), on an enriching historical journey from an African-centred perspective, mapping the story of the global long walk towards a brighter future.
How did Einstein help create Eskom? Why can an Indonesian volcano explain the Great Trek? What do the late King Zwelithini and Charlemagne have in common? These are some of the questions Prof Fourie explores in this accessible economic history spanning everything from the human migration from Africa 100 000 years ago to the Covid-19 pandemic.
