Stellenbosch University’s Development & Alumni Relations Division and the Maties Rugby Club invite you to a special online screening of the first instalment of our new video series titled Matie Legends and Pioneers.
In this first instalment of Matie Legends and Pioneers, Morné du Plessis, former Maties and Springbok captain and manager of the triumphant 1995 World Cup team, talks about Doc Craven, the Test series against the British and Irish Lions in 1974 and 1980, as well as the Test series victory over the All Blacks in 1976. The interviewer is renowned journalist Bun Booyens, himself a Maties alumnus, former editor of Die Burger, Weg! magazine and presenter of the Megaboere TV programme.
Please join Dr Pierre Viviers, President of the Maties Rugby Club and myself, Hans Scriba, Fundraising Manager: Maties Sport, on Wednesday, 4 August 2021 at 18:00 as we set the scene prior to the screening. We will also share some information on the current status and vision of Maties Rugby and the Craven Bursary Fund.
