Residences

Residences

Stellenbosch University boasts a vibrant and active community of residences and PSO structures which host a range of alumni activities throughout the year. Every year the various residence and PSOs drive interactive alumni programmes that include first-year reunions, birthday reunions, guest lectures, sports, and cultural events.

In 2022, we are excited to introduce a revived reunion model. We will be hosting alumni reunions of all the residences and PSOs on the same weekend, during our annual Homecoming and Family Weekend. It will include 80 first-year reunions and 10 birthday reunions. This is a weekend you cannot miss! Keeping in mind the dynamic nature of the university calendar and uncertainties surrounding the global COVID-19 situation, we’re sharing provisional activities for 2022. Can’t find events for your specific PSO or residence? Not to worry; we’ll keep you posted via email, on our various social media platforms and website.

Decade reunions

As part of the annual Homecoming celebration, we are hosting first-year reunions for our 1972, 1982, 1992, 2002, 2012 cohort. These events include visits to your residences, campus tours and a big year-group luncheon.

We have reached out to residence and PSO alumni and confirmed alumni champions for each year-group. These champions will bring together Maties of each year-group to reunite and celebrate Homecoming. Due to COVID-19 restrictions in 2021, our 1971, 1981, 1991, 2001 and 2011 will also be hosting their own first-year reunions at Homecoming 2022.

COME! And engage with your closest friends in your year-group and use this opportunity to reminisce and network.

Interested in attending or getting involved with the planning? Please contact dfvandyk@sun.ac.za so that we can put you in contact with current alumni champions.

Serruria 45th Reunion

Sunday, 13 March

For the past 43 years the Cape Town Cycle Tour, presented by Pick n Pay, has contributed millions of rand to social upliftment and Stellenbosch University is proud to have a charity entry in this prestigious tour. We are looking for riders who will become champions of the Matie Annual Fund, Bridge the Gap – a campaign to help talented Maties cross the financial hurdles on their path to achieving success.

The 2022 Cape Town Cycle Tour (CTCT) is a major event where alumni and friends will be cycling and fundraising for Bridge the Gap. Join in the fun and camaraderie with our special edition cycling Tshirt while riding with the Rector and Vice-Chancellor, Prof Wim de Villiers, and enjoying our postevent hospitality.

It is easy to link your existing entry to our charity entry for the CTCT, one of the world’s leading cycle events and the first event outside Europe to be included in the Union Cycliste Internationale Golden Bike Series.
