Maties are forming communities all over the country, the continent, the globe, and there’s always something going on. Join one of the national or international hubs so that you can network with other Maties, engage, offer your time or your talent and explore ideas.
Please note that dates indicated are provisional due to the dynamic nature of the university programme considering the COVID-19 pandemic. Feel free to engage with the various hub co-ordinators in each region.
Do keep in touch via www.matiesalumni.com and follow our social media channels for the latest information.
Stellenbosch University (SU) aims to strengthen the relationship between our alumni and the university across the globe.
We envision linking the past, the present and the future by creating, nurturing, supporting and managing an inclusive and strongly united global community of SU alumni, wherever they may be located.
The hubs create opportunities for Maties to connect and remain connected to one another and their alma mater, thus offering valuable opportunities for social and professional networking to help alumni meet potential employers and establish new friendships
The difference between a hub and a chapter
The distinction is determined mainly by geography: Where a Matie alumni hub covers a large area with more than one centre, it is pragmatic to create smaller units – chapters – around those centres.
Types of activities in hubs and chapters
Knowledge sharing events that could include one or more speakers, a concert, a wine tasting, an industry networking event, etc. – a full day or morning of Matieness in all its maroon glory!
How to get involved:
If you would like to get involved in the hub or chapter in your region, assist in creating a platform for Maties to connect and play an intrinsic role in the programmes that will be driven in your geographical area, please contact dfvandyk@sun.ac.za
