#Move4Food

“Not knowing where your next meal will come from is a reality for many South Africans, including university students. Food insecurity at South African universities seem to get little attention due to the perception that those attending university are privileged and have their basic needs met.” — Karen Bruns, Senior Director: Development & Alumni Relations.

The #Move4Food fundraising campaign was launched in August 2018 with the goal of raising funds to help sustain the food security initiatives at Stellenbosch University (SU) over three years, from 2019 to 2021.

Together with the student leadership of 2018, 2019 and 2020, we have implemented various actions to tackle food insecurity on our campus in this student-led fundraising campaign to try to change the picture of student hunger at SU.

The campaign’s focus has been, and continues to be, on creating awareness of the issue, destigmatising being hungry and bringing together our community in a way that demonstrates our solidarity.

Your support of the #Move4Food campaign not only touches our students’ lives every day, it is a powerful and exemplary demonstration of your commitment to transforming the lives of young people and the future of our country. Click here to see how your donations have made a difference in the lives of our students.
