The Chapter Committee for Maties Breede River invites you and fellow alumni to join the author of Our Long Walk to Economic Freedom, Prof Johan Fourie (also an SU alumnus), on an enriching historical journey from an African-centred perspective, mapping the story of the global long walk towards a brighter future. Prof Johan Fourie will be in conversation with Specialist Business Consultant, Retha Alberts.
How did Einstein help create Eskom? Why can an Indonesian volcano explain the Great Trek? What do the late King Zwelithini and Charlemagne have in common? These are some of the questions Prof Fourie explores in this accessible economic history spanning everything from the human migration from Africa 100 000 years ago to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Copies of the book, in English and Afrikaans, will be on sale.
