Last year saw the unforgettable launch of the Breede River Alumni Hub where Maties of diverse industries, areas of interests and exciting ambitions were brought together to engage with one another, relive some Maties memories and re-establish the connection to their alma mater. The goal this year is to host four events in the Breede River Valley region that will afford fellow Maties the opportunity to collaborate, engage and inspire other members of the community to become future Maties.
On Thursday, 6 May, the Breede River Alumni Hub will be hosting a conversation on land reform with:
Professor Juanita Pienaar, professor of Private Law at Stellenbosch University lecturing in Customary law, Property law and Advanced property law:
Prof Pienaar has published informative research both nationally and internationally on land reform and related matters within a property law context.
Professor Johann Kirsten, Director of the Bureau for Economic Research:
Prof Kirsten has undertaken extensive research on agricultural policy, commodity markets, the economics of origin-based foods and land reform. He has over the last 25 years published extensively on agricultural land reform and provides regular support and advice to business and government on this issue.
The evening is an alumni networking opportunity to have fruitful engagement around economic development in the Breede River Valley.
