On Sunday, 19 September 2021, Justice Edwin Cameron, Chancellor of Stellenbosch University, will be joining our Rector and Vice-chancellor, Prof Wim de Villiers, on the iconic 55-mile cycle ride from Clapham Common in South London to the seaside town of Brighton to raise funds to support academically strong but financially disadvantaged Matie students, and they want you to join them!
Both the Chancellor and the Vice-chancellor will be leading their own teams and will compete to see who can raise £10 000 first.
Will you help them to reach this target?
The team captains have something to ask you. Click on the links below to hear what they have to say.

Whether you are a seasoned cyclist or just a casual rider, the London to Brighton Cycle Ride is something you can do. Choose in whose team you would like to ride and let me know by emailing darrynh@sun.ac.za. I will then send you the registration details.
You can read more about the London to Brighton Cycle Ride HERE.
We are asking all cyclists to commit to raising £500 towards the target. We will help you to get there through our online fundraising platform for this event.
The funds raised from this event are for the UK/EU Bursary Fund, which aims to give academically gifted but financially disadvantaged students the opportunity to pursue success at our institution and reach their full potential. The total target of £20 000 will provide at least three students with a full bursary that covers tuition, housing, food and textbooks.
Join a team now. You do not need to be a Matie to be part of a team – invite your friends, family and colleagues to cycle for this great cause.
Don’t worry if you are not a cyclist, you can get in on the inter-team competition and help your favourite team by donating here:
