Please join the conversation as we discuss the future of the South African economy. The Johannesburg Alumni Chapter and Stellenbosch Business school have assembled an expert panel to bring different views and insights. The South African economy faces possibly the worst forecasts post-democracy, and the economy is without a doubt in trouble.
The question is what should South Africans do and what steps can be taken in response to the turmoil that is forecasted by most economists. The economic troubles were already in existence before loadshedding, and the decline is set to continue unless something deliberate is done to change the path that we are on. Dr Nthabiseng Moleko, Senior Lecturer in Economics and Statistics at the Stellenbosch Business School, remains hopeful that despite looming recession, declining GDP and worsening unemployment, we can do something as a nation.
