Birthday reunions
2022 promises to be a phenomenal year with the following residences celebrating their birthdays and hosting alumni reunions: Huis ten Bosch (85), Majuba (55), Huis Marais (75), Goldfields (35), Serruria (45).
Because of COVID-19, Helderberg (75), Eendrag (60), Heemstede (55), Dagbreek (100), Metanoia (15) had to cancel their birthday reunions in 2021, but they will be celebrating their milestones in 2022.

Heemstede 55th Reunion
Heemstede is celebrating her 55th birthday this year and we would love for you to be part of this special occasion. Metanoia 15th Reunion
It is with great pleasure that we invite you to Metanoia’s Sweet 16 reunion taking take place on Friday and Saturday, the 9th and 10th of September 2022.
The weekend is jam-packed with plenty of activities. Will you join us?
The event details are as follows:
Friday 9 September at 18:00 – Meta Games Night and Quad Party
You will be divided into teams and will compete against each other in a variety of fun games, perfect for all ages. There might even be a little bit of MetaZombies fun to take you back! Games night will turn into the Meta Quad Party — the theme is disco, so go all out.
Saturday 10 September at 09:00 – Meta Picnic Brunch
Come and enjoy an intimate picnic brunch. We’ll start off with the Rubix Cluster Dance, which is quick and easy to learn, so do not be alarmed. There will be several brunch options to choose from on the day.
We’re also running a Pulp Paper Dream Project. You get to jot down a message or thought on a small pulp page to plant with a spekboom that we’ll gift you. Whilst enjoying brunch, our Memory Lane Throwback, where we’ll all share our best memories and pet peeves of life in Metanoia, is sure to be hugely entertaining.
Saturday 10 September at 17:00 – Meta Sweet 16 Dinner Prom Birthday Party Mashup
We wrap up Homecoming weekend with our Sweet 16 Dinner and Prom Party. Please dress up and embrace the vibe. Think photobooth, karaoke, lip sync battles, desserts, and cake for days. And no need to find a babysitter — kids are welcome. We’re setting up a children’s area where they can have their own fun. Plus, there’s an award ceremony for good measure!

Dagbreek Street Mile
Our ever-popular Dagbreek Street Mile will once again take place in the picturesque Victoria Street. The first Street Mile was held in 2011 in honour of alumnus De Villiers Lamprecht. He was the first South African athlete to run a dream mile (the mile in under four minutes) – a distance of 1 609 m. The historic race took place on 13 November 1964 at Coetzenburg Stadium. De Villiers was a Dagbreek resident at the time. Get ready to put on your running shoes and join Dagbrekers as they run the Dagbreek Street Mile in 2022.
