Launched in 2020, the Breede River Alumni Chapter was the first official Matie Chapter in South Africa. After many successful events and networking opportunities in the past two years, the lead has passed to Carli Broodryk and her team of volunteering alumni. With the greater Worcester area as the base, more remote towns and areas such as Tulbagh, McGregor and Robertson are included in the scope of this enthusiastic Chapter’s scope. At least three main events are planned for 2023 and all local alumni are called to connect to this network. Come and revitalise friendships, reunite, and discover the warmth inherent to our Matie culture and community.

• Thursday 2 March – The basic concept of spending a ‘happy hour’ is about as old as a good mood and spare time, so join us for a Chapter Happy Hour Social. We guarantee that you will actually leave feeling happy (at being a Matie)!
• Saturday 19 August – But is it art? A SWAN Interactive Art event to fix your gaze on.
• Thursday 19 October – Join the economic historian and author Prof Johan Fourie discussing the enriching journey of our long walk towards a brighter economic future.
