Relaxation and rejuvenation of the soul

Relaxation and rejuvenation of the soul

Stellenbosch may be known as a tourist destination boasting a range of exquisite wine farms, but it’s also the town where families, couples, students and tourists alike come to relax and rejuvenate themselves in nature’s most beautiful offerings.

This year, you can enjoy those surroundings too by participating in the #MatiesHomecoming Fun Run on 2 March 2019 at Coetzenburg with your family and friends. You’re welcome to bring your pets too as long as they are on a leash for the fun run.

There is a 6 to 8km route and a 12 to 15km route to choose from. However, it really doesn’t matter which you choose as long as you join us for a fun-filled day with family and friends – and your pets of course.

You can also use this opportunity as more than a day out with family and friends by making a contribution to the university’s #Move4Food drive. #Move4Food is a student inspired campaign initiated in 2018 to raise R10 million to create sustainable food banks on the Stellenbosch and Tygerberg campuses to ensure no student goes hungry while studying at our university. According to recent studies, many students on campuses across South Africa go hungry and are unable to afford even basic items. At SU, 6 in every 100 new students are likely to go hungry during their studies. Various fundraising initiatives in support of the movement have been started by students, staff and alumni –  from residence fundraising challenges to alumni choosing to participate in fun runs, trail runs and marathons with every kilometer they complete sponsored by their supporters.

The entry fee for adults is R50, but kids and pets participate for free.
